Today, “Salzmoor” is an idyllic recreation area and nature paradise.More than 50 well preserved tumuli near Wohlde stand testimony to the importance of this region in prehistoric times.Once a pagan sacrificial site, Wohlde was a famous place of pilgrimage, thanks to the Wohlder Waldkapelle (Wohlde Forest Chapel), and, before the Reformation, used to attract pilgrims from far beyond the borders of the principality of Lüneburg.The Eckmuhl lighthouse in Penmarc’h takes you up to the top from where you have a magnificent view of the Breton coast from the top of its 307 steps.Then visit the port of Saint Guenole and take the “feet in the water” trail to Kerity.From the Breton Ocean campsite, you have an unbeatable view of the sea and also the Kerlut manor, a stone building from the 19th century that is now hosting marriages and receptions.
